Tuscaloosa Area Volunteer Registration*
PLEASE READ: Thank you for your interest in joining the official Tuscaloosa area recovery effort! To begin the volunteer process, please download and complete the forms below. EVERY volunteer wanting to enter the Recovery Zones will need to fill out the Individual Information Form ONCE. To make communication as efficient as possible, all designated leaders of a larger group must fill out the Team Leader Information Form. In addition to the individual form, all volunteers who are UNDER THE AGE OF 19 will have to fill out the Minor Release Form, to be signed by a parent or legal guardian. Please attach all completed forms in an email to  or return them in person to the Tuscaloosa Area Volunteer Reception Center. To finalize the credentialing process, volunteers must receive their ID badges in person at the Tuscaloosa Area Volunteer Reception Center. Please contact us with any questions. We sincerely appreciate your efforts in rebuilding our community and we look forward to working with you!

The City of Tuscaloosa is asking everyone who volunteers with the disaster relief efforts to log their volunteer hours. This is critical for the recovery efforts because FEMA will subsidize the cost to the city based on the number of hours volunteered. Please do your part to ensure the sucess of our community.

Volunteers can log their hours in four ways:

  • Signing a timesheet if available at the place they volunteer (e.g. Temporary Emergency Services),
  • Reporting them as a part of their affiliated organization (e.g. The American Red Cross),
  • Calling the VRC Call Center (), or
  • Filling out these online forms:

Becoming an “Affiliated Resource Provider”

As a critical part of the Tuscaloosa relief network, Affiliated Resource Providers (ARPs) are responsible for satisfying immediate needs for our credentialed volunteers. Those interested may apply with the Affiliated Resource Provider Information Form (below). After assessing both the local needs and your resources, we will assign ARPs various responsibilities (meals, water, storage, childcare, housing, etc) that will appropriately fit within the rebuilding process. While ARPs will be allowed to continue functioning independently, we require them to be “on-call” throughout the volunteer work day.

Requirements to apply:

  • Permanent or semi-permanent local location
  • Well-organized resources and infrastructure
  • Commitment to timely, efficient communication

Form to be uploaded soon…

We have a work crew coming up this weekend. I was just trying to get some idea of what is needed. I have all the typical tools, wheelbarrows, rakes, hammers, etc. but I also have chain saws and a diesel tractor with a front end loader. Is the tractor needed? If so, would you anticipate a problem with nails puncturing the tires? Are there any other particular tools that would be good to bring? Thanks
